Appearance:
Name: Malvernax Kei.
Age: 21.
Race: Some kind of enhanced human.
Biography: Was an inventor, or tinkerer, before the calamity happened. He was a young college graduate who was shunned as mad and unethical by his fellow engineers. So his family moved to another country (UK) where he worked in a small lab of his own, building automatons and other things society deemed forbidden. He hid underground and was never open about his interests or inventions, but he was really good at putting up a calm, almost clueless and innocent front. His parents were old, as they had him when they were already 20 years into their marriage. His father died of cancer, and his mother was beginning to show signs of Alzheimer's. He loved them both, because despite everything they never tried to shove him in an asylum or report him to the law. So he began building things to save his mother's mind from the disease and to keep her physically strong. He prolonged her life considerably, but she died during the apocalypse. After losing so much, he decided to detach himself from the cruelty of humanity, built a place for himself away from any and all life, and settled there. The only time he goes anywhere near people is to steal parts he needs for new inventions or the like.
(Note: This bio was written for a post-apocalyptic steampunk rp. Ignore the 'calamity' and other parts for other rps.)
Bio 2 (Extended):
Mal’s family once belonged to the Order of the Jade Lotus, a happy and harmonious lot. His father was an elf, his mother a fae. They gave birth to a hybrid child of extraordinary attributes. Nothing too special, but something about him attracted the monsters of madness. Unfortunately, due to those abilities, he was targeted by many.
And one day, as they lay asleep in their home, a strange, deformed monster murdered his parents and took him away. He was only eight. After that, everything went black.
When he woke up, he found himself tied up with searing hot rope that kept burning at the flesh of his ankles and wrists. He was hidden in an alley, where the strange monster had brought him to. The only reason he was still alive is the fact that said monster only devours mad victims. And, in this alley, it was very easy for that to happen.
Nights dragged on. All he could see was darkness. Slowly, insanity caressed his cheeks with the gentleness of a soft summer’s breeze.
He fought it. It was hard, but he did.
However, when he started to starve, his mind started to give in to the whispers. Madness had unlocked the door to the deepest corners of his subconscious, letting a soft red light into what was now complete drarkness.
Before he could lose himself entirely, however, a very powerful Lich defeated the monster and saved him.
He was fed, clothed and taken care of by the Lich, named Severenthius, but for payback, he was made to carry out deeds for him. Most of them only worsened his madness.
Now he’s lost all of the light in him, and only darkness resides within. He’s outright insane, but he can act so perfectly sane, it’s creepy.
He works for Severenthius, but he does have his freedom. He makes all kinds of inventions for him. But he knows better than to trust him.
Personality: Has a lot of nervous energy, which causes him to require something in his hands to tinker with, always. He's clever, strategic, sly and cunning. He takes nothing seriously, is very quiet around people, and much more comfortable around machines than living beings. Very energetic and distracted (courtesy of a serious case of ADHD), but he's also intellectually brilliant. He talks really quickly, often to himself, just to keep up with his rapid thoughts. He moves with the speed of a lizard, but he also wears himself out. When he's exhausted, he becomes almost deadly relaxed and sloth-slow. He gives himself the breaks he needs, reading and creating art, but then he gets right back to tinkering. His hyperactive imagination makes the things he imagines appear right before him (more or less like hallucinations), which enables him to do the most complex things. He has a secret affinity for poetry, music and other artistic forms of expression.
[Extended: ] After the corruption of his sanity, he’s become even more distracted. He sometimes appears deaf when someone is trying to converse with him; however it is the result of the voices in his head being a little too loud. He’s become more sensitive to noise and light, which made him retreat from people. He also has grown the tendency to smile in a crooked way in the strangest of times that just gives him a ‘creepy’ presence. He isn’t often angered, but if he’s stressed by crowds of people and loud noises, he becomes irritable. If he receives no relief from the overwhelming stiumuli, he snaps, going into a blackout rage that he forgets when he awakens from it.
He’s lost most of his sense of morality and enjoys killing, and embraces his own darkness fully.
